    This was to be a season of near misses. In the League Cup, the Star won their group and progressed to the final where they met Linlithgow Rose. Despite two goals from Jimmy Aird, the Star went down 4-2.

    The Star's run in the Radio Forth Cup was especially impressive given that the team were drawn away from home in every round, yet progressed to the final having conceded only one goal. Once again the Star met Linlithgow Rose in the final and once again lost.

    The Star had now met Linlithgow on eight occasions in cup finals/league championship playoffs and had failed to pick up the silverware on every occasion.

    The Star were eliminated from the Scottish Junior Cup in the third round, going down 2-1 despite a goal from Jimmy Aird to an Auchinleck Talbot side that would eventually go on to lift the cup at Hampden Park.

    In the league, the Star finished third, but were a long way behind runaway champions Whitburn. The Star did defeat the Burnie 5-3 with goals from McColl, O'Hara, Ramsay, Kilgour and Mulligan, but the match took place in late May when the final destination of the title was already heading to Central Park.

    Come the end of the season, the Star had a lengthy backlog of games. So much so that the team had to play the semi-final of the Robertson Homes Cup against Edinburgh United on a Friday evening in June. A goal from Paul Ramsay in extra time gave the Star a 2-1 win. There was little time to recover though since the final was due to be played the next day. Bonnyrigg Rose were the opponents at Newbyres Park and once again the match went to extra time, which still did not produce a winner. A penalty shoot out was required to settle the destination of the cup. All ten players who took a penalty scored with the exception of the Star's John Hughes who shot wide. A third cup final in a long season had ended in defeat.
