    Willie Jamieson's managerial tenure did not last long. Neither did the Star's participation in the Scottish Junior Cup as Wishaw visited New Victoria Park and left with a 3-1 win - a defeat that signalled Jamieson's departure. He was replaced by former Hibs defender Gordon Rae.

    There was to be little to cheer during the remainder of the season. The Star were eliminated in four of the other five cup competitions in the very first round. Only a run in the Fife and Lothians Cup gave some cheer, especially a penalty shoot out win against Superleague side Linlithgow Rose. Milne and Baigrie had scored for the Star as the tie ended 2-2 after 90 minutes. In the next round the Star travelled to another Superleague team - Hill of Beath Hawthorn. The match ended 1-1 with a goal from Milne. Another penalty shoot out was required, but the Star were not able to repeat their form against Linlithgow Rose.

    In a league of only eighteen games each, the Star finished mid-table, nine points behind eventual winners Bo'ness United despite winning 2-1 at Newtown Park in early October.

    The dearth of league games and the lack of success in the cup competitions meant the Star's season was over by early April. The Star were no longer blighted by the perennial curse of the Junior game that saw some teams playing three games a week throughout April and May. A season of only 26 games in all competitions just did not seem long enough.

    After thirteen years with the club, Tam Aitchison announced his retirement from playing.
