    The 2024/25 season would build upon the progress of the previous year and finally deliver promotion for Newtongrange Star. The team started the league campaign strongly and spent much of the first 12 matches of the season in the top three places. Mid-season form dipped noticeably though resulting in a run of just 4 wins in the next 12 games including defeats to top end sides Camelon Juniors, Bo'ness Athletic and Heriot Watt University. With 6 matches left, Star needed a positive run of results to secure promotion. Four wins in a row meant a final home match against Bo'ness Athletic where a win would clinch promotion. Unfortunately, Star could only draw meaning a nervy last day of the season visit to league champions Camelon Juniors. With fourteen minutes remaining, Star were losing 2-1 and headed for an agonising fourth place finish and a missed opportunity at promotion. However, the Star team found enough energy to score three times in the remaining minutes and clinch third place in the league table. So after three years in the 1st Division, Star finally secured promotion back to the East of Scotland League Premier Division.

    In the Scottish Cup, Star enjoyed a 4-0 derby win over Easthouses Lily in the Preliminary Round. However, a trip to Brechin City in the next round was as difficult a tie as there could be at that stage in the competition. Despite a valiant defensive effort, City would snatch a single goal victory with an injury time winner.

    There were early exits in the South Challenge Cup, East of Scotland Qualifying Cup and League Cup, all to higher league opposition. The one exception was the King Cup, where Star reached the quarter final for the third year running before falling to eventual winners Bo'ness Athletic.

    There was also recognition given to Bernie Morocco, who had held the role of Sports Therapist, Kit Man and all-round entertainer at the club for 30 years. In his honour, the stand at New Victoria Park was renamed The Bernie Morocco Stand.
