During World War II Newtongrange Star did not compete in any competitions.

There was some Junior football played during the war. The Lanark & Lothians League was in operation between 1941 and 1945 involving clubs such as Armadale Thistle, Fauldhouse United and Bathgate Thistle as well as Lanarkshire clubs like Wishaw Juniors, Larkhall Thistle and Lanark United.
