John Hagart was Newtongrange Star's first ever manager. After leaving the Star, he then managed Hearts (1974-77) and Falkirk (1979-82) before becoming reserve team coach at Rangers (1983-86).

Bob McDonald and Billy Brown were joint managers.

After leaving the Star, Billy Brown formed a successful partnership as assistant to Jim Jeffries at clubs such as Berwick Rangers, Falkirk, Hearts, Bradford City and Kilmarnock.

After a playing career with Hibs, Hamilton Accies, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Hearts and Ayr United, Willie Jamieson became player/coach with the Star. He stepped up to manager after the departure of Alan O'Connor.
Gordon Rae

Gordon Rae spent 13 years in the Hibs defence before playing for Partick Thistle, Hamilton Accies and Meadowbank Thistle. Managed Gala Fairydean and Edinburgh City before coming to the Star. He later had a spell as assistant manager at Linlithgow Rose.
Graeme Armstrong

Graeme Armstrong holds the Scottish record for most league appearances. He played 910 times for Meadowbank Thistle, Stirling Albion, Berwick Rangers, Stenhousemuir and Alloa Athletic. His last appearance was at the age of 44 in 2001.

Saw much success as a Newtongrange Star player between 1990 and 1996. He went into management with Haddington Athletic and Edinburgh United before being appointed manager of Bonnyrigg Rose where he led the team to the 2008/09 East Superleague title.
